Abstract: Level of understanding and misconception of chemical bond have been identified for chemistry students of institute of teacher training and education Gorontalo using written test and interview. The results: (1) the level of understanding of first, second, third, and fourth year students about bond length can be regarded to be low; (2) two dominant misconceptions identified are: (a) covalent bond and coordinate covalent bond between the same atoms have different bond length. (b) In the molecule that has resonance, the double bond and single bond lengths are different.
